Ceasarstone was first produced in 1987, and has since become a firm favourite of many interior designers. So what is Caesarstone and what are its qualities? Kitchen Finder explores.

What's Caesar stone?

Caesar stone is a unique combination of up to 95% natural quartz aggregates, mixed with pigments and a polymer binder. The result is not only a tough bench top, but a surprisingly flexible one also.

Coming in lengths of up to 3060mm, it's also extra wide, at 1440mm. It can also be bought in either 20mm or 30mm thicknesses, or a specially ordered thinner version of 13mm. The extra width is what gives Caesar stone a new advantage to kitchen design, increasing the possibilities of what can be done with a bench top.

Additionally, Caesar stone is just downright practical. It's scratch, heat and stain resistant, never needs sealing and is not porous, meaning that it doesn't absorb spills so easily. Some care should be taken to ensure it lasts well, though. Abrasive or caustic cleaners should be avoided in order for its sheen to last, but if an accidental spillage of these happens, washing it down with water straight away should avoid any major damage.

Caesarstone: Other qualities

Caesarstone is also mildew and mould resistant, which makes it not only great for kitchens, but bathrooms as well. It comes in a huge variety of natural tones, from lighter pale shades of white, through to black and every possible earth tone and charcoal shade in between. The manufacturer of the original Caesar stone, which goes by the same name, also manufactures all products according to the International Standards Organisation 14001. Companies that adhere to this standard must go through a strict environmental audit to ensure they help to reduce long lasting ecological damage.

Caesar stone's durability is ideal for high traffic areas that take a bit of a pounding, which is also why it is often the choice of restaurants and other professional organisations.

Caesarstone is a popular kitchen benchtop choice. Kitchen Finder discusses its qualities and benefits.
